Who Needs To Apply For Iceland Schengen Visa

1. Those who are only visiting Iceland;

2. Those who are traveling around the Schengen Area and will be staying in Iceland for the longest duration; or

3. Those whose first entry is in Iceland, if going to other Schengen Countries in equal length.

Documents Required for Iceland Schengen Visa

All documents must be submitted in an A4 Format. You can use this checklist as a guide.

1. Cover Letter  - printed from the online Application Portal. It must be signed by the applicant. Proof of payment via receipt number should be seen.

2. One Passport-sized photo with white background and not older than 6 months – paste your photo (not staple) on the designated space of the checklist, altered photos are not accepted 

3. Original Passport - with at least two blank pages and valid for at least 3 months after the departure in the Schengen Area

4. Photocopy of original passport - a clear copy of your bio page and the used pages that have visas and stamps

5. Proof of accommodation - hotel booking or reservation

6. Itinerary  - detailed day-to-day list of activities during your trip

7. Proof of sufficient funds

  • Original Bank certificate or transcript

  • Photocopy of credit card statements for the last 6 months

  • Documentation of own means or properties e.g. land titles

  • Proof of Family Ties e.g. PSA Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate

9. Occupation

  • Employed - Employment Certificate or work contract photocopy (with applicant’s position, length of service, and salary) and Approved Leave of Absence

  • Self - Employed - DTI/SEC Certificate, latest Income Tax Return

  • Student - Proof of Enrollment and Leave of Absence from School

10. Photocopy of Round trip Airline Ticket Reservation – it is not required to pay or buy the ticket until a visa is granted.

11. Photocopy of Travel Medical Insurance - It should be applicable for all Schengen States and cover the entire stay or transit period of the person. The minimum is EUR 30,000 /PHP 2,5 million / USD 50,000. I highly recommend AXA Schengen for this!

STEP 1: Go to this website.

1. Create a new user account. Type your e-mail as a confirmation code will be sent to you.

2. Check your e-mail and enter the verification code on the website. Enter a new password.

3. Click “Want to Apply.” Then, click “New Application” and “Application forms for citizens of all countries.” You will be choosing the “Visitor’s Visa.”

5. Review your application summary.

STEP 2: Pay the fee via Visa or Mastercard and submit your application. An e-mail will be sent to you with your cover letter, print and sign it.

STEP 3: Gather all your documents, including the cover letter and the checklist.

STEP 4: Book an appointment at this website.

STEP 5: Pay the additional fees (service fee and courier fee). Have your biometric data were taken (photograph and fingerprints).

STEP 6: Track your application.

STEP 7: Receive your passport via the application center or courier. Copy of the bio-page of your passport and receipt when claiming; you can claim it in the center from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Mondays to Fridays.

FAQs On How Filipinos Can Apply For Iceland Schengen Visa

1. How much is the Short Term Visa Fee?

Visa Fee is EURO 80 for 13 years old and above. For 6 – 12 years old the fee is EURO 40, while it’s free for those 5 years old and below

2. How much are the Other Fees?

VFS logistics Fee is Php 1,535, while shipment of your documents and passport to Thailand is EURO 3.

3. How long can I travel with my Short Stay Visa?

90 days maximum in a 180 day period.

4. How long does a visa application usually take?

A visa application usually takes up to 15 days. However, in some cases, the Embassy may take 45 days of processing time and ask for additional documentation and further verifications. 

You can submit your application up to 6 months before your planned departure.

5. Can I submit another Schengen application form instead of applying online?

No, you must adhere to the rules of the Norway Embassy where you need to apply online. A cover letter is a requirement in the application and you can only get it via the portal. If you can’t, then try other embassies.

6. I don’t have a Visa or Mastercard, can I pay at the center?

No, you need to pay online. The service fee and courier fees are paid at the center, while the visa fee is paid online. You might want to borrow a relatives’ credit card.

7. Do I need to apply personally?

Yes, except when the applicant is below 12 years old, biometrics are taken, so you are required to visit the application center.

8. What if I’m out of the country?

You can wait until you come back to the Philippines. But if it’s hard and you won’t have enough time, I suggest applying to the country you are currently at. You need to find an Iceland Embassy or an embassy that issues Schengen visas.

10. Do I need to book an appointment?

You need to book an appointment so that you can be catered at the Application Center.

You can check at VFS Global website to track your application. 

12. Can someone else get my passport?

Yes, you can have someone else can get it for you. They need to bring the original official receipt, copy of your passport’s bio-page, an authorization letter, and a photocopy of your ID.

13. Can I get my visa via courier?

Yes, you can. You need to coordinate with VFS Global.

14. Is there an interview?

Not necessarily, but you may be called for an interview at the Embassy in case they see something wrong with your documents, or they want some clarification with the purpose of your stay.
