Overview Of Thailand

Capital: Bangkok
Language: Thai
Currency: Thailand Baht (31 THB = 1 USD)

The Kingdom of Thailand is a Southeast Asian country nation surrounded by Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Malaysia. Thailand was home to four kingdoms, from Sukhothai to Rattanakosin. Thailand has a Monarch and a Prime Minister who leads the country.

As the most visited country in South East Asia, you may think that Thailand’s primary source of income is tourism, but it is not – only less than 10% comes from tourists. Thailand boasts of many historical and cultural sites, natural spots, and medical tourism. It’s very affordable and has a lot to offer, so it definitely is a destination you would not regret visiting.

Going To Thailand

There are many airports in Thailand; 6 of them are major international airports. The ones in Bangkok and Chiang Mai are the busiest. Aside from air travel, there are also land and sea borders that can take you from neighboring countries to Thailand. It’s really up to you what to choose.

From the Philippines, there are many flights to Don Meuang International Airport (Bangkok.) There are local and international airlines; Bangkok is a great place to stop for transit.

What To Do In Thailand

1. Visit the Grand Palace

Built in 1782, The Grand Palace is the official residence of the Kings of Thailand until 1925. Now, it is a famous landmark in the heart of Bangkok. It’s a vast area that you will be in awe of as the architecture, and the history is unique.

2. Enjoy Phi Phi Islands

Enjoy seeing paradise in Phi Phi Islands. With turquoise blue waters, amazing cliffs, and white sand beaches, you will be in awe. It’s something you should not miss especially if you are a nature-beach lover.

3. Learn more in Ayutthaya Historical Park

If you want to visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site, go to the Historic City of Ayutthaya. It is the second Kingdom after Sukhothai but was destroyed by the Burmese in the 18th century. You’ll know more about Thailand’s history here!

4. Go on an adventure to Erawan National Park

A National Park in Thailand where you can enjoy hiking to explore the gorgeous Erawan Waterfalls. Plus, there are also fishes you can see, too. The hike may be a bit far, but it is worth it.

5. Help the Elephants

There are many elephant sanctuaries in Thailand, so don’t miss volunteering in one or donating money for their rehabilitation. If you decide to go to one, make sure that they are “ethical” elephant sanctuaries. Some institutions take rides or performances which might stress the lovely creatures.
