We always wanted to visit Jamaica; the home of Reggae and the world-renowned Bob Marley. Luckily, we got sponsored at a Couples Resort in Negril for our 5th anniversary. Although our journey started a bit of a mishap due to a missed flight, we were totally in awe of this beautiful country.

If you want to go to the Caribbean, Jamaica should be on your list. Not only is this one of the top tourist destinations in the world with their pristine beaches and crystal blue waters but also with their hospitable locals and mouth-watering cuisine.

4. Round trip ticket with itinerary and confirmation of hotel accommodation

5. Show money of USD 2,000 (cash on hand)

6. Bank Certificate or  Photocopy of bankbook

7. Business or Employment documents

  • If you are in business; please submit your Business registration w/ Financial Statement

  • If you are employed; please submit a Certificate of Employment

8. NBI Clearance

9. Medical Certificate to travel abroad with dengue test

Step-by-Step Guide on getting a Jamaica Tourist Visa

Getting a visa for Jamaica is relatively easy and can be done in 5 easy steps.

STEP 1: Fill in the application form truthfully and legibly. Attach your photo. 

STEP 2: Collect all the required documents.

STEP 3: Personal appearance is required, so you need to present all original copies of your documents. Don’t worry as only photocopies are only submitted to the consulate.

STEP 4: At least 10 days before your departure, schedule an appointment for an Interview.

STEP 5: Wait for the decision of the Embassy.

1. How much is the visa fee?

Visa fee is only Php 6,000.00

2. Do I need to bring the original documents?

Yes, during your appearance at the consulate you need to bring all your original documents as the consulate will check it. However, they will only get photocopies.

3. Is personal appearance mandatory?

Yes, it is mandatory since you will be scheduling an interview too.

4. I have a valid US / UK / Schengen Visa, am I exempted?

As per the Jamaican Embassy,  there is no exemption for Philippine nationals, so you need to apply for a Jamaica Tourist Visa.

5. When should I apply?

Since processing time is 1-2 days and you need to interview at least 10 days before your departure then I suggest at least 2 weeks before your flight.

7. Can I get the medical certificate from another place?

Yes, you can, however, don’t forget the dengue test. But I suggest using the place the embassy has recommended.

Negril, the place we stayed in was perfect it has the best beaches and a relaxing environment. Ochos Rios has many attractions near it too. Montego Bay has great beaches but a bit crowded.

4. Is Jamaica safe?

Jamaica is safe for tourists. However, don’t go to towns occupied the military. If you are traveling alone, always be aware of your surroundings and avoid walking alone at night.

5. How to get to Jamaica?

In Jamaica, there are three international airports; Norman Manley in Kingston, Sangster in Montego Bay, and Ian Fleming International airport in Ocho Rios.
