Qualifications to be Eligible for a Croatia Digital Nomad Visa

Do you work through communication technology?

Are you employed or own a company not registered in Croatia?

Are you willing to not perform work or services to people in Croatia?

Will you earn at least HRK 16,142.50 per month (HRK 193,710 for 12 months)? Refer here.

If YES, you can apply for a Croatia Digital Nomad Visa.

Documents Required for Your Application

Documents must be in Croatian or English

1. Application Form

2. Valid Passport – or travel document, at least 3 months longer than the period of stay

3. Proof of Health Insurance – must cover Croatia. SafetyWing Remote Health Insurance is highly recommended; it covers Croatia as your country of residence

4. Proof of Purposes

  • Contract of Employment or documents proving that the applicant is a remote worker not registered in Croatia

  • Statement from Employer that applicant works through communication technology and Contract Employment with a foreign employer

  • Copy of Company’s Registration and proof that applicant performs task through his own company

5. Proof of Subsidence – Bank Statement or Proof of Regular Income; minimum amount is HRK 16,142.50 per month.

6. Proof that applicant is not Convicted of Criminal Offences – from home country or country of residence for more than a year before arriving in Croatia

7. Address in Croatia – address for intended stay, can be a hotel or hostel with a confirmed reservation

Steps on applying for a Croatia Digital Nomad Visa

STEP 1: Gather all documents required for your application.

STEP 2: Submit it to the nearest Diplomatic Mission or Consular Post of Croatia. You can refer here.

In case you are not required to have a visa, you can submit it at a Competent Police Administration or Police Station in Croatia that’s near the place you are staying. Here’s a link for Police Offices.

STEP 3: Pay the fees required.

STEP 4: Wait for approved temporary residence.

Once you have that, those who need a visa to enter Croatia or a biometric residence permit might need to go back to the Embassy to apply for the visa. Please refer here as there may be some more requirements or steps. Here’s an online application form.

Those who don’t need a visa may enter Croatia.

STEP 5: Once you have an approved temporary residence (and a visa – for those required), you may enter Croatia. Within 3 days from your arrival, you will need to go to the Police Station where you are staying to register your temporary address. Here’s a link for Police Offices.

STEP 6: Prepare the following:

  • Form 8A

  • Lease Contract, Statement from Land Lord, or Title Deed

STEP 7: You will also be asked to obtain a residence permit – biometric card. You’ll provide photos and biometric data. Fees will be paid. Once granted a permit, you can enjoy your stay in Croatia!

Things to Note:

  • Digital Nomads granted temporary stay may be joined by immediate family

  • Temporary residence is not renewable. However, 6 months after the expiration of a previous stay, digital nomads can reapply
