Is Barbados Visa Free for Filipinos? [Visa Free Guide to Barbados for Philippines Passport]

Barbados is my 124th country. It’s very mesmerizing with gorgeous weather, crystal clear waters, and white sand beaches. It’s a tiny island, but it is so stunning. I got to swim with turtles and stingrays, which was in my bucket list besides tasting their rum. The best part? It’s visa-free for Filipinos and British Citizens!

Overview of Barbados

Capital: Bridgetown

Language: English and Bajan Creole

Currency: Barbadian dollar (1 USD = 2 BBD)

Barbados is a tropical island nation in the Caribbean. On its east is Saint Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, while Trinidad and Tobago are in the northeast and Martinique on the southeast. The first settlers were about 1600 BC while Kalinago stayed there in the 13th century. The Portuguese claimed it in the 15th century until the English settled in the 1600s. It has gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1966 but remains to be in the British Commonwealth.

Due to British Influence, English is the official language of Barbados, and their language Bajan has elements of English. Most Barbadians are Christians, mostly Anglican. Locals here are of Afro-Caribbean descent; there are also of European and Asian origin. Barbados has gorgeous beaches as well as is home to nesting turtles and green monkeys.

Going to Barbados

The international airport in Barbados is Grantley Adams International Airport in Christ Church. Besides fellow Caribbean Countries, there are flights from Canada, the USA, Panama, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

If you are from the Philippines, you might need to pass by Europe, the US, or Canada before arriving in Barbados. You can also go on a cruise here.

What to do in Barbados

1. Swim with Turtles and Stingrays

Ready your swimming attire and GoPros as you swim with sea creatures in Barbados! I got to swim with turtles and stingrays when I was in Barbados. It was a fantastic experience. You could also snorkel and see colorful fishes and corals as well.

2. Discover Harrison’s Cave

Discover the caves inside by tram or on foot. The pictures won’t do justice as the place is beautiful. You will also learn about the history of Barbados as you tour inside. It’s a must-do when you come here plus the staffs are amazing.

3. Ride a 4x4 around Barbados

Hop on an Island Safari jeep and explore the island of Barbados. You can do it from 3 to 6 hours, depending on how you want to spend your day. Check out amazing spots on your tour, and don’t forget to drink the rum punch!

4. Party at Harbor Lights

Barbados is not only water and sand, but it also has fun nights too! Harbor Lights is one of the most popular night clubs in Barbados with local shows like limbo dancers or stilt men. There’s an entrance fee of USD 30, but it’s worth it as they also have free drinks!

5. Go to Oistins on a Friday

Go to Oistins, a fishing town in Barbados. On Friday nights, they fry fish at the Oistins Bay Gardens. The food is fresh, and the fish is cooked after you choose it. There’s also music playing, and you can dance to the beat.

6. Visit George Washington House

When George Washington was 19 (not yet the American President), he visited this house in 1751. It became a UNESCO protected property in 2011. There are underground tunnels and a museum as well inside the house. You will gain more knowledge about the country’s history here.
