One of the most essential requirements in getting a marriage license is the Certificate of No Marriage. Whether you are a local or a foreigner getting married in the Philippines or a Filipino getting married abroad, you will need this. Here's a guide on getting a Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) online or walk-in.

A Certificate of No Marriage proves that the bearer is single or unmarried with regards to Philippine records. You can't marry if you have a registered marriage. You need to process your marriage license within 6 months after you get your CENOMAR as it is only valid for those months. If your CENOMAR is expired, you might be asked for a new one.

Walk-in: Getting a Certificate of No Marriage at Census Serbilis Centers

Since the Census Serbilis Centers are under the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), you can get your CENOMAR quickly. The main one, sometimes you can get within the day, for others it may take 2 to 3 days.

STEP 1: Download, print, and fill-up the CENOMAR Application Form. If you have no printer, then you can get the form in the centers.

STEP 2: Proceed to the nearest Census Serbilis Centers. Ask for your queue number, and don't forget to bring the following:

• Valid ID of the person going there

• Authorization Letter and Photocopy of the owner's ID (if you are not the owner)

STEP 3: When it is your turn, give your documents to the screener. You will then be asked to proceed to the cashier if it's okay.

STEP 4: Pay the CENOMAR fee of PHP 210.00 per copy. Keep the OR as it will be used in claiming your CENOMAR. Check also the date when to come back.

STEP 5: On the date specified, go back to the PSA Serbilis Center. Don't forget to bring your OR. Claim your CENOMAR.

Walk-in: Getting a Certificate of No Marriage at SM Business Center

CENOMAR processed at Business centers will usually take 7 days, you can choose this option in case you are near an SM Mall.

STEP 1: Download, print, and fill-up the CENOMAR Application Form. If you have no printer, then you can get the form in the centers.

STEP 2: Proceed to the nearest SM Business Center. Ask for your queue number, and don't forget to bring the following:

• Valid ID of the person going there

• Authorization Letter and Photocopy of the owner's ID (if you are not the owner)

STEP 3: When it is your turn, give your documents to the screener as well as the fee of PHP 235 (PHP 210 with a service fee of PHP 25). You will be given an OR and Claim stub.

STEP 4: On the date specified on the claim stub, go back to the SM Business Center. Don't forget to bring your OR, Claim Stub, ID, and Authorization Letter. Claim your CENOMAR.

Other cities or provinces - 4-9 working days after payment but due to the pandemic it will be 4 weeks after payment (I have lately experienced this and got the documents from PSA within on the 3rd week and not the 4th)
Other countries - 6-8 weeks after payments but due to the pandemic it will depend on the resumption and restriction of countries
