2. Two (2) fully completed and signed visa application forms.

3. Two (2) passport colored photographs. (2x2 with white background, must be taken within the last 6 months.)

4. An invitation letter or hotel reservation (It should be typewritten and notarized at the City council or Prefecture/Mairie; The invitation letter must be addressed to the Embassy of the Republic of Congo, Visa section and should be at least 3 months (90 Days) valid.)

5. Copy of airline tickets or itinerary 

6. Self Address prepaid trackable return label and envelope. (USPS, UPS, FedEx)

Mode of payment: Only cash and money orders will be accepted as the only form of payment for visa fees.

The processing time may take up to 5-7 business days. The Consulate of the Republic of Congo in Washington, D.C does not offer any rush or expedited services.

Important things to remember

  • The Embassy of the Republic of Congo does NOT issue a visa on arrival. All visa applications should be submitted prior to the date of departure.

  • The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Congo to the United Nations in New York does NOT issue visas for the Republic of Congo. Only the Embassy of the Republic of Congo in Washington D.C issues visa.

  • For Non-US citizens, the tourist visa is delivered for a period of 3 months (90 days) multiple entries. For US citizens, a visa of 6 months (180 days) multiple entries shall be granted.

1. When should I apply for a visa?

The Embassy of the Republic of Congo advised all visa applicants to submit their application and passport for visas at least two weeks prior to the intended date of departure.

5. When is the best time to visit Congo?

The best time to visit Congo is between May to September as it is the driest season in the country. But of course, choosing the best time to go there still depends on you. The main seasons in Congo are wet and dry, and they only experience rain for at least a month. October is the month wherein they experience the most rainfall. 

6. Will I have a hard time communicating with the locals?

Since French is the official language in the Congo, it might be difficult for non-French speakers to communicate with locals. It is recommended to have a translation app or have a travel book/guide with you when you go there.
