Kach Solo Travels in 2017: Week-long trip in Kenya
JAMBO again from our week-long trip in Kenya which is just the first part of my 2-month long African adventure!
Kenya’s population is the most diverse in Africa. We can easily identify different ways of life in Kenya, it could either be the urban, rural, and tribal way of living.
We spent few hours in Maasai Community village, one of the most famous tribes in Kenya. We were fortunate to meet the Chief of the village and his predecessor, they said that you have to kill a lion with your bare hands to become a Chief! But as time passes by, the tradition change due to animal extinction. Maasai boys and girls undergo separate initiation ceremonies as part of important rites of passages. The celebrations include singing, dancing, and young men jumping as high as possible showing their strength.
We were welcomed by singing and dancing Maasai ladies all dressed with colorful shukas and jewelry. They also showed us the cattle, their houses, and some local produce like wood carves and beads. I came to realized that Maasai are contented and satisfied with what they have even they have little. Maasai way of life is something that we have to experience to understand the true meaning of 'peaceful living'.
