Kach Solo Travels in 2017: Our Maasai Mara, Kenya Experience!
JAMBO everyone!! That's a Kenyan way of saying hello! We thought that they were initially calling us big! haha! Kidding! š
We arrived last week here in Kenya. Our first stop was in Nairobi and now in Maasai Mara! If you're a Filipino like me then you could easily get a visa-on-arrival for $50 or the East African Visa for $100 if you are also going to Uganda and Rwanda for more adventures.
The reason why I'm here in Kenya is to manifest another dream - an African Safari adventure! Since Jonathan couldn't join me (he's busy with his sailboat!)... I invited my friend, Arione (Pinay Wander) to join me for the first few weeks of my 2-month travels around Africa! Two married and independent ladies on an adventure away from our husbands! Haha!
Arione and I have been enjoying our daily game drives around the Maasai Mara National Reserve where we've been seeing a lot of wild animals esp the BIG FIVE! The only way to get to this place is by flying or by hiring a private car and drive for 7 hours from Nairobi! (Just get yourself ready for a free African massage from a bumpy ride!) We chose the latter part so we can take more photos and it's cheaper! You can join a tour company or take the public transport for DIY but it would end up costing you more.
We stayed at Mara Engai Lodge, sitting on top of the hill outside the National Reserve overlooking the whole national reserve and the Serengeti National Park of Tanzania. John, the lovely owner of the lodge allowed us to fly Arionne's drone! (if you are coming with your drone be mindful to get a license to fly around the reserve) Ha š We also visited the Maasai Community and met the Chief, they showed us about their way of living and the value of contentment even they have little. They gave us a warm welcome with some Maasai women singing and dancing! Ha!
Loving the experience so far! The people are incredibly nice (always smiling!). When we arrive in Nairobi tonight, I'll be uploading more photos from our cameras!ā¤ļø All Photos from our iPhone!
