COMMON VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR BRITISH CITIZENS

Though each country has a different set of requirements needed, there are standard documents that you can prepare for your visit:

1.       Passport valid for at least six months with two or more vacant pages

• Afghanistan

Additional Requirements: Proof of hotel reservation and flight itinerary, Evidence of Employment in UK, Utility Bills or bank statement as proof of address in the UK, a personal statement describing the purpose of the journey and a statement that the applicant is aware of the risks involved

Visa Fee:  £140.00 for a Single Entry 3-month Tourist visa with only 30 days stay.

• Bhutan

Note: You need to arrange a pre-booked tour with a tourist agency in Bhutan as the tour operators are the one who can apply for you

Visa Fee: USD 40 for 7/14 days entry permit. 

• China

Additional Requirements: Itinerary including air ticket booking record (round trip) and proof of hotel reservation

Visa Fee:  £85.00, £170.00 (5 Year Multiple Entry), and £255.00 (10 Year Multiple Entry).

• Iran

• Iraq

Additional Requirements: Official letter stating the purpose of travel, duration of stay. Provide also a valid phone number

Visa Fee: USD 40

• North Korea

Additional Requirements: Certificate for employees/ university attendance confirmation for students and an e-copy of the signed traveler declaration. It is better to apply via travel agency

Visa Fee: An agency in Stockholm costs 60 Euro 

• Mongolia

Additional Requirements: All supporting documents printed, including air ticket or train ticket bookings, hotel reservations, or confirmation of a place staying during the whole period in Mongolia. 

Visa Fee: A Single entry-exit (Validity 3-months, duration 30 days) costs 40 GBP

• Russia

Additional Requirements: 'Tourist voucher' and a 'Tourist confirmation' document stamped and signed by an authorized person. Get if from your hotel or an approved travel agent, and they should be valid for the entire duration of your trip. Self-employed, company directors, working from home or unemployed applicants need to provide bank statements for the last three months which have a current balance of a minimum of £100 per day for the duration of the visit. Please note that if you wish to provide online banking printouts, please make sure they will be certified and stamped by your bank. Students, house-wives and retired people are not required to provide bank statements

Visa Fee: A single standard visa costs £63 + a service charge of £38.40 (inclusive of VAT)

• Saudi Arabia

Note: Saudi Arabia doesn’t issue a Tourist Visa. Instead, you need to have a Visitor Visa where you need an official invite from the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The person you are visiting in Saudi Arabia must contact the MOFA to have an invite issued. Lately Saudi Arabia are doing events that would allow you to get an e-visa like the F1 event.

• Turkmenistan

Note: Applicants are kindly requested to contact a travel agency in the UK or Turkmenistan. They can assist in obtaining a “Letter of Invitation” from the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan (SMST). The letter serves as a basis for the Embassy to issue a visa
Visa Fee: Standard fee for 10 days is USD 50 but paid in GBP.

• Yemen

Additional Requirements: Letter from Travel Company who is organizing the trip and an airline ticket in and out of Yemen

• Algeria

Additional Requirements:  A confirmation of a hotel booking or an official invitation with an itinerary from a travel agency in Algeria

• Burundi

Additional Requirements:  Booking or Ticket copy, Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate, Proof of hotel reservation

Visa Fee: £60 for 30 days

• Cameroon

Additional Requirements:  A legalized letter of invitation with the Cameroon Police from either the host/contact/partner in Cameroon, Return/Continuation Ticket, Bank Statement (at least £1000) except where a tour operator is organizing the trip, travel insurance, Valid Poliomyelitis Vaccination Certificate

• Central African Republic

Additional Requirements:  Proof of Residency in the UK, Itinerary, Yellow Fever Vaccination, Health Insurance, Employment Letter, Hotel Reservations, Bank Statement, and payslips

• Chad

• Republic of the Congo
