DENIED AUSTRALIAN TOURIST VISA - Common Reason for Australia Visa Rejection

Common Reason for Visa Rejection in Australia Visa — And What You Should Do About It

Who’s not curious about the land down under? Home to the great barrier reef and lots of kangaroos. Where the gorgeous Sydney Opera House is located. Australia has been a dream, and Oceania has been the last continent we’ve visited. Before entering this country, most neat to have an Electronic Travel authority, but some nationalities (like Filipinos) need an Australia visitor visa to enter.

The part I hate the most in visa processing is when you give your best in getting the requirements and paying the fee is when your visa is denied. You got all excited, and your efforts were for nothing. To avoid getting rejected, we must know the reasons why most people got this sad decision and learn from it.

Here are the common reasons for Australia Visa Rejections, let’s discuss with regards to requirements:

1. Inconsistencies in the Application Form

Inconsistent data in the application form versus the documents you have submitted will be grounds for visa rejection.

Examples are: your date in “When do you wish to visit Australia?” is suitable for 7 days, but your itinerary is 10 days. You answered “No” in your application but it was found out that it should be “Yes.” (like you have a previous crime but instead of admitting it, you chose to hide it). A relative is sponsoring your trip; however, you didn’t mention them in the application form. You have health problems but didn’t give details. They can be grounds for rejection.

Make sure what you have typed in the application, and your supporting documents are consistent – the same information, the same goal. Inconsistency will make you look like an unsure applicant or someone who is hiding something; the Embassy will not let you enter if they think you are a risk.

2. Invalid Passport

A certified copy of the passport will be sent to the embassy. It should be with the same details as your application form. Travel history can give you a good advantage, so make sure to send entry or exit stamps too

3. Wrong Photograph

Send a passport size ID which complies with the photo specifications. The background should be plain; it should be your head and shoulder only, and no facial coverings or glasses. Alteration of appearance or removing of distinguishing features is not acceptable.

4. False Birth Certificate

Birth Certificate must be a genuine and original (if from the Philippines from Philippines Statistic Authority). If the document has been altered or tampered with, a counterfeit document, or fraudulently obtained or issued, then you will be denied.

5. No Proof of Employment

If you are employed, you need an employment certificate indicating the length of employment and annual salary. A bank statement is also required showing salary credits for the last 3 months. You could show additional proof that your employer knows you are on leave. If not complied, then they may have reason to deny you since this is proof that you are a visitor and have a job to come back to.

If self-employed, you need a business tax return for the last two years and bank deposit slip as evidence of tax payments. It is advisable to register your business and for proof of tax payments, if you have no bank deposit slips, submit the receipts.

6. No Invitation Requirements (if with sponsor)

If you are visiting relatives or friends as per your application and you haven’t submitted documents, then your Australian visa could be rejected. It would help if you pass the following:

* Letter of invitation from your relative or friend in Australia
* Copy of the bio page of their passport
* Evidence of your relationship to your relative or friend
* Evidence that they have the necessary funds to support your intended stay.

7. Financial Incapacity

If you don’t have enough money to support your travel in Australia, then you will be denied. The embassy will think you’ll be looking for a job in Australia or end up begging on the streets, which they will try to avoid. Show them proof that you could afford it:
* Bank Certificate showing average daily balance for the last 3 months
* Bank Statements showing transactions for the last 3 months

Incomplete documents may get your visa rejected.

Other common reasons for an Australia Visa Rejection are:

8. Wrong Visa Type

Australia has 100+ types of visas with specific requirements. A common reason for rejection is applying that you have used for the wrong type. If your main goal is studying for more than 3 months, then apply for Student Visa subclass 500 not visitor visa – tourist steam subclass 600. There is also Work and Holiday visa which is different from a Working Holiday visa, so be very careful and read the description correctly.

9. Bad History with your previous visa

If you had an Australia visa before but failed to respect its rules, then you may be denied your second visa since they feel you are not trustworthy and may abuse again. Prime examples are overstaying or working when it’s not allowed with visa type.

10. Criminal Record

Australia has a zero-tolerance policy for criminals, so they want someone who is of good character. If there is evidence you have committed a crime, then you are denied your visa.

11. Health Conditions

Australia may deny entry if you have medical conditions such as significant heart issues, cancer, HIV, or even mental health illness. If there is a probability of you to be a drain on the Australian medical system or incur a high medical cost, then your visa may be rejected. You could show medical examinations or doctor’s notes and travel insurance.

If your application was refused, a Decision Record will be provided and any avenues for appeal will be stated if it is applicable to you. This would also detail the reason for the decision and what legislative requirement you failed to meet. It is always an option to just start afresh application anytime unless there is an indicated time gap on the visa refusal letter.
