Kach Solo Travels in 2017: My 5 Days Experience in Grand Comore, Comoros
I'm still here and I think spending 5 days here is already too much but I've done a lot of writing and reading so all good! I'm leaving tonight to catch my flight to DJIBOUTI and then SOMALIA (Somaliland) where I'll be spending the last week of my solo Africa Trip!
I flew here from Nairobi and was able to get a visa on arrival for 30 euros. There are very few hotels here and one of the mid-range costs is the Retaj Moroni Hotel where I'm staying! My room is overlooking the Indian Ocean, the bed is okay and the staff are really nice (well, most of the locals are incredibly friendly and nice!). I also met a fellow solo traveler, her name is Jenna and she's American on a quest to travel to every country in the world! She taught me some new travel hacks and I taught her how to go hitchhiking when we were together for 3 days before she left for Madagascar (I've already been a few weeks ago)! Haha!
Anyway, such a pity because nature is beautiful here but trash is everywhere and I don't think they're keen on boosting tourism! I hope they will because it has the potential to become another cool island destination in Africa!
More soon, feel free to ask questions about my 2-month African journey.. most of the places I visited are visa-free or visa-on-arrival for my Philippines passport. After Africa, I'm off to my favorite country, Turkey, then off to Florida to meet my mother and bring her on a cruise before returning to Jonathan and our sailboat!
