Pinterest is a great tool to share travel photos and dream destinations. It is also a great way to drive traffic to your blog and increase the number of readers. Here, there are different boards for different topics and it is up to you on how you will arrange it. In our case, we decided to separate it per continent or region.

QUICK TIP: Pin photos from your travel blog, re-pin photos of other interesting articles from other websites, and follow people who share the same interest as you. Action generates reaction so be as active as you can! Below are more suggestions on how to get the buzz going for your blog with the help of Pinterest:

How to Use Pinterest to Promote Your Blog

1. Have a blog board.

Create a Board on Pinterest exclusive for your blog posts. This makes it easier for people to find everything and anything from your blog. Name the board the same way as your blog. Insert keywords, too. Search engines love keywords!

HOW-TO: After writing your blog post, pin it to your board with a little teaser from the article, an image, and a link to the article.

2. Mix it up.

Create an assortment of travel lifestyle-related boards and pin valuable content like tips, images, and products relevant to your followers.

Remember to keep everything under one broad umbrella. The goal is to show how your blog article fits into the board theme. Make everything appealing!

IMPORTANT: Cross-pinning on different boards is okay but never overdo it. The last thing you want is to spam your followers with the same link.

3. Come up with great visuals.

Of course, you want people to read your travel blog. But before they do that, you need to entice them to click through your blog post. How do you do that? Gorgeous images.

Pinterest is incredibly visual - almost like a magazine. Pretty things are left, right, and center. Be sure to serve eye candy to your followers to catch their attention. The quickest way is through a beautiful image that stands out and encourages a click-through.

4. Interact!

Follower engagement is the goal. You want to do it so well that your followers on Pinterest are converted into blog readers, too. Interact with them so they will want to connect with you through your blog and other social media accounts.

HOW-TO: Start interacting by pinning relevant and original content. Be consistent with your pins and time it when most of your followers are online. When you get a follow, return the favor. Re-pin and react to their posts, too. Look at what your followers like and give them more of it. Ask questions.

5. Practice SEO.

Pins are not so different from any other post you make online. Each is indexed by search engines like Google so practice SEO. Set your privacy settings to the public to make way for search engines. Add keywords to your posts and include hashtags. Edit your image 'alt' tags and insert keywords, too!

6. Start a contest.

Like on Facebook, contests are super effective in starting a buzz around your Pinterest account. But first, the contest must be directly on your blog. Then, pin it on your board to generate interaction.

The idea is to send people to your blog. You are only promoting the contest on Pinterest to encourage more participating. Try it! Contests are really fun and engaging. Everyone loves winning!

7. Feature your blog writers.

It is nice for your followers to put faces on your writers. This way, a relationship is built. It is easy to connect and relate.

On your blog writers board, add the face of the author with a creative bio including quirks, lifestyle, and hobby. A short quote from the author is nice, too.

8. Add a 'Pin It' button on your blog.

Make it easy for your readers to share your content. Add a 'Pin It' button so that they can recommend your content to their friends and followers, too!
