Someone who has been bitten by the travel bug or who dreams to travel the world wants to do it 24/7. We want to explore a new place without filing a leave or waiting for that holiday to come. We do not want to be boxed in the office of our home country, dreaming of that new adventure and not doing it.

Luckily, there are numerous jobs out there that can allow graduates to travel while working. If you are a fresh graduate from college, then this can help you decide on what kind of job you’d take on. Alternatively, if you are a new high school graduate, then this can guide you on which college course to take so that you can do what you love while having a career.

We have also partnered with World Tesol Academy to provide an online TESOL certification course for the lowest price you will find anywhere – $34 USD! We recognised how badly affected many people around the world have been by the Covid / Coronavirus situation. So, we spent a lot of time discussing with this great company how they could come up with an affordable solution to help people afford the opportunities that an online TEFL / TESOL certification can bring.

Here are the 7 top ideal jobs if you want to travel the world:

Flight Attendants or Pilots

Being in an air carrier is one of the best careers if you want to travel, not only will you go to new places, but you can do it for free too! Many airlines also allow their employees to fly for free to any destination during their off time. While working, you also get free food and housing. Imagine you don’t have to stay at hostels or sleep on bunk beds but at savvy hotels.

If you want to become a Flight Attendant, you need to have a college degree (some though accepts high school graduates), although any is accepted, a degree in hospitality, tourism, communication or public relations will give you an advantage. If you are also 18 and above, in good health and can reach the overhead luggage bins, then you can be one.

If you want to become a Pilot, an aviation degree is not necessary; however, it is a plus. A primary requirement is having a flying experience, at least 1,500 hours. However, this is quite an expensive but a great profession with amazing perks.

If you’re from the Philippines, aside from applying in Philippines Airlines/PAL Airlines, you can also consider the airlines in the Middle East that are hiring a lot of Filipinos - Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, Saudia, Gulf Air etc.

Ship Worker (Cruise)

Though you need to work for long hours, you can explore cities when you dock and have free time. In a year, a crew can have two months straight off, where you could spend it at home or traveling to other places. Working on a ship makes you save a lot of money since room, board, and food are free.

If you want to travel through the world through a vessel, you need a degree in Nautical Science (to navigate ships) or Marine Engineering (to fix oats). Also, you could tour a country when your ship docks. If you are lucky, high-rank officials usually treat the new ones.

A cruise ship, however, offers various jobs; from bartenders, room attendants, laundry attendants, store cashiers, photographers, counselors, entertainers, and many more. If you are fresh from high school or college, you could easily apply to one as there are many cruise lines. You can be trained for these jobs; if you have experience from your part-time jobs or have degrees like hospitality or tourism, it is an advantage. Crews can also have fun excursions, and a plus is having new friends; be it your shipmates of guests.

In the Philippines, you can apply directly with Royal Caribbean or Magsaysay Maritime Corporation that is the agency representing most of the cruise companies.

Some countries have high-demand for English Teachers. From the Middle East to South America, you could teach and travel. Some countries won’t require you to have a University degree as long as you have TEFL, CELTA, or TESOL certificate. Having a teaching or English literature degree can give you an edge. You can spend your free time in that country of course, and after your contract ends you can travel to a new one.

We have also partnered with Let’s TEFL to offer accredited 120-hour TEFL courses with a 60% discount. Just use our exclusive promo code - TWOMONKEYS. Let’s TEFL courses include free certificate shipping!

Au Pair

An Au Pair is a young, single overseas individual who comes to another country as part of cultural exchange. You don’t need a degree here, so after high school, you can apply as one. As an Au Pair housing is free and host families usually provide all three meals, some may you give a small allowance. Often, Au Pairs do childcare and light housework.  Though not as high paying like the rest, you can do side jobs (like online jobs when the kids are not around) or part-time jobs if allowed in your contract.

As a writer with your wits, pen, paper, and laptop, you can travel around the world with that career. Though you need to be witty and a good writer, having an English degree would be an advantage as you have practice in writing and grammar. As a writer, you can travel where you want and are in charge of your schedule. Remember, you need to pass before the deadline.

If you are a travel writer, sites like National Geographic or Matador Network could hire you to go and write about off beaten paths or best destinations.
