Kach Solo Travels in 2020: Meeting Filipinos here in Papua New Guinea!

Hello from Papua New Guinea!

I’m still here and about to edit some photos from this trip.. actually I still have a lot of photos to share from my travels since 2019 but been moving non-stop! Haha 😬

Before I share more touristic photos, do you know that there’s over 40,000 Filipinos working in Papua New Guinea.. some of them here in the capital of Port Moresby but a lot of them in the provinces and some are working in mining. The pinoys I’ve met on the plane and airport are so mabait and walang yabang sa katawan kahit they have great paying jobs here. Love it!! ❤️❤️

Most of them are skilled workers, professionals, Doctors and managers! Galing! The respect for OFW here makes me more proud to be Pinay!❤️

I met Tito Eddie Sangrador during my flight from Manila to POM. As you know there were flight cancellations earlier this week and him (and his son) were one of those that had to reschedule their flight and luckily I’ve met them on the Thursday flight! Hahaha! Everything happens for a reason.🙏🏽

So, I got to talk to Tito during the flight and together with his son, Eryk, also picked me up from my Hilton Port Moresby hotel yesterday to show me around the other parts of the city then I invited them to join me for Mumu experience dinner at the hotel since I couldn’t eat huge amount of local dishes!

Tito said that Filipinos started to arrived here in 1970s when our economy was booming and were know with our fast development and the PNG government wanted to learn from us - building roads, agriculture, fishery etc. so they recruited experts to work in the PNG government and to train their people. Since then, more and more Pinoys arrived here including Doctors, Nurses, Pharmacist and other managerial positions. Galing!

Yesterday, I also meet Lowella, she’s one of our readers who attended our meet up in Cebu last 2017 and she’s working now here. So surprised and happy as she’s wearing a Kaladkarin tshirt with my signature pa.. thank you Wella! Next time more energy pa ako ah pag wala ng trangkaso! Haha ❤️ She even gave me souvenir gift from PNG.

Do we have other readers in Papua New Guinea, where are you guys and how long have you been here?

Always love meeting Filipinos abroad and I’ve always been lucky to meet them randomly while on my trips to some off-the-beaten travel destinations.

To more countries with my Philippines passport and I know wherever I go, I’d always meet Pinoys.
