Kitchen Island Inspiration [Montenegro Stone House Renovation Vision Board]

Having a kitchen island has a lot of advantages. You can have more counter space, more storage, an eating area, and even a room for your other appliances or a small work sink. Some homes even have a large kitchen island that also serves as the main work area of the kitchen. Not only that but they can also serve as a part of the kitchen where people in the family can gather casually to enjoy dinner or a snack together. Plus, if you love cooking or love being in the kitchen all the time, having a kitchen island is really helpful, especially if you have a lot of kitchen stuff that you want to store.

Though kitchen islands are not really a necessary component in a kitchen, having one gives an amazing impact on the whole area. So if you’re planning to renovate your kitchen, you may want to include it in your plan. But before choosing the best kitchen island for you, you have to remember that there are two categories of it; portable and permanent.

Portable kitchen islands are known to be more affordable. What’s best about it is that you can move it around freely as it doesn’t need any type of plumbing or wiring. And because of this, you can also use it as a temporary workspace. On the other hand, permanent kitchen islands are the total opposite. Some of them may still not require these special utilities such as plumbing or wiring, but unlike the portable ones, they would not be mobile. Usually, there are two functions for permanent kitchen islands; either as a secondary or main functional area of the kitchen. For food preparation, cooking area, or eating area, permanent kitchen islands are ideal for that. Also, take note that permanent islands are more expensive and usually larger compared to portable kitchen islands, so they are perfect for a bigger kitchen area.

If you will choose the best kitchen island for your kitchen, you should first analyze which type suits you based on your needs, design, style, and of course, the area if it’s big or small. Types of kitchen islands include; Rolling Kitchen Island, Small Kitchen Island, Kitchen Table, Cabinet Kitchen Island, Full Kitchen Island, and Double-tiered Kitchen Island. Though they all have different sizes and styles, it is guaranteed that they all serve their main purpose, to be a useful part of most kitchens.
