Life On The Road Day 1: Saying Goodbye to s/v Empress and driving to San Juan, Puerto Rico
It’s time to get back to my daily blogging! I know I was not able to interact to most of you in the last couple of weeks because the “back to land” transition is quite overwhelming but all the hard part is over and so I’m back! 😜
Today is the day when the new owners took Empress and sailed her to their home in Puerto Real. Jonathan helped them to prepare the boat this morning while I prepare all of our things and got our car rental that we will use on our last 2 weeks in Puerto Rico. We rented a very nice one bedroom airbnb in San Juan which cost us 1,000usd for the 11 nights but this is the cheapest we could find that is decent and would allow our two cats (Captain Ahab & Little Zissou) to stay then we will be staying in a hotel on our last 2 nights which is near the airport! 🤗😇Traveling with pets is definitely harder than when it’s just me and Jonathan but we will not trade this life and happiness these two boys are bringing us!! 🙏🤪
We already booked our flights (since February) to leave the Caribbean on May 09 so we know we have a timeline and set goals that we have to get our sailboat sold and all the arrangements for our move to Europe will be done - buying a car, renting a house, visa, cats documents, shipping our things... we're doing all of these while working to fund this expensive move! Haha 😬 I don’t know how Jonathan and I multi-tasked but I will talk more about it in the future on how we did all of these in just 2 months time 🤣 #goaldiggers
Anyway, we spent the afternoon delivering the orders - we sold our generator, Paddleboard rack and mastclimber separately! We only have to sell our brand new windlass and liferaft then we’re all set to just relax and go on a roadtrip! The cats did well on the car for the last 4 hours of driving, they are definitely raised to be sailor cats!! 🙏😍😇
Hope all is well with you guys! Now, time to eat our leftover food and watch netflix! haha 🤣
