Expat Life in Montenegro Day 443: Celebrating Jonathan’s 36th birthday! ❤️
Sharing some photos from the last few days to celebrate Jonathan’s 36th birthday yesterday!❤️❤️
Hello guys, it’s been a very adventurous few weeks since Jonathan returned home to Montenegro. I still have a lot of photos to share from our sailing trips, winery tour, and road trips 😬
We decided to visit somewhere we have never been even though we have lived here for over a year now - Lake Skadar National Park!
Located in the south of Montenegro and on the border of Albania, it's a beautiful lake full of birds, fish, and lush green vegetation. We drove from our house in Herceg Novi it took us two hours. We love how close everything is in this tiny country! 😬
Some friends of ours had introduced us to a British couple who run an adventure tour company called Undiscovered Montenegro with their own renovated stone guesthouse - Villa Miela.
For about ten years they have been showing visitors the adventurous and less-visited side of Montenegro. They offer kayaking and hiking tours, yoga retreats and they now also offer bushcraft tours as well!
When we arrived Ben and Emma showed us around and then we jumped into a Landrover with kayaks on the roof to go do some paddling in Lake Skadar.
We kayaked for about an hour into the mouth of one of the rivers that feed the lake and then stopped at a swimming spot with a rope swing for some lunch and a drink. It's amazing to swim in freshwater again when we just can't find it on the coast!
On the way back we took turns jumping out of the kayak to cool off while the other one paddled. It was so much fun!
Then at their home, we met their kids and enjoyed a lovely BBQ before we slept at their beautiful stone house villa! ❤️
Will share more photos from our driving using the old Austro-Hungarian road to Cetinje and the Serpentine road in Kotor which is perfect for our future motorbike trips! 😬
