Weekend Activities Perfect for Newly and Young Married Couples

When you get married, it is important that you know how to keep the fire in your relationship. You need to do things which you will look forward to. Even if both of you are busy with your jobs or your business, always ensure that you spend time together. And NO, I’m not talking about your daily dinner. Do something fun and fearless.

And since most of the young married couples are both working on weekdays and only have weekends as their spare time, I’ll give you some quick and easy – to – do activities that will make you fall in love with your partner even more!

1. Get a map and go for a drive

Who says that a road trip should eat up an entire day? Do a bit of research and look for a nice spot which is just few hours drive from your hometown. While you’re at it, put on a playlist that will make you remember the good old days. It can be the song of your first dance or your wedding song. If you have the budget, might as well try the famous restaurants on the way to your destination. But if you want a cheaper alternative, you can always prepare packed meals.

Sometimes, these road trips will not be as romantic as you would like it to be. Imagine an engine – failure or a flat tire. Yes, that could happen. So before you embark on your journey, make sure you have the contact numbers, or at least bag a knowledge on how you can change a flat tire. Just laugh it off! It will be a great story to tell afterwards.

2. Get physical!

A healthy body and mind can lead to a healthier relationship. If you are working most days in front of your computers and laptops, you better gear up and do some strenuous activities. I’m thinking about hiking, trekking, surfing, cliff – diving, bungee jumping or running. Do all possible activities that your body allows.

3. Take new classes together

It would be great to learn something new – and together. There are a lot of short courses to choose from. Just find a common ground, or maybe just go to a class and take it from there. This might sound funny for some but maybe go on a dance session. If you want to unleash your artistic side, enroll yourselves in a painting or pottery class. You can even learn a new language if you are planning to have an overseas adventure anytime soon. I remember Jon and me learning how to do massages. Perhaps, like us, you can use the learnings to earn more cash!

4. Camp in your backyard (or living room)

Ok, so you guys are really on a tight budget. That doesn’t give you a license to slack off and not do anything together over the weekends. Instead of sleeping in your bed, you might want to set up a tent outside your homes (or inside your living room). Watch tonnes of movies and TV series all night. You can make hotdogs and s’mores. And for those who are lazy, I guess it’s not hard to microwave popcorn or to order pizza, right? Get some beers and sodas and you are all set.

5. Clean the house!

Who says that cleaning has to be boring? It can be your bonding time together during the weekends. Make it even more fun by goofing around. Why not have a pillow fight while you try to change your pillow cases and bed covers? You can even get ‘wet and wild’ while you clean the bathroom and your car. Most of the time, you would even see some photos and small things hiding in your closet, that would take you back to the past. Put it in a box and reminisce afterwards.

6. Plan your next big vacation

If you only have the weekends to spare, then maybe use the time to plot for something grand. Use the time to make plans on how you can make your dream vacation into a reality. Here’s a quick list that you need to do.

  • Choose a Destination – It doesn’t matter if the destination is known to be an expensive tourist spot. Just decide on which one you would like to go to and start from there.

  • Choose the Activities – Of course, you would want to maximize your vacation. Thus, it would be best to do a bit of research and know which activities will tickle both you and your partner. Write it all down so you can carefully plan which comes first.

  • Plan your work leaves – If you are working in a traditional setup, you probably need to discuss with your partner the best times to schedule your leaves. It has to be the dates where you would consider as a ‘lean’ season for your work. By determining such, you have the lead time to give your bosses a heads up!

  • Set a budget – Make sure both of you are in this together. It would be cute to set up a jar where you would label as ‘Travel’. Allot a portion of your salary every pay day. Before you know it, you have more than what you need for your dream vacation.

  • Post it in your dream board – I know some of you would say that having a dream board seems to be a bit childish. However, it is something that can help you reach your goals. By looking at your dream destination, you subconsciously do things that will make it a reality.

With the emergence of smart phones, I suggest that you take loads of photos. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to post your pictures in your social media accounts. If you want, you can print it and add as a nice touch to your homes. Perhaps, save it in your drive or cloud to help you immortalize all your fun memories – just don’t forget your passwords!

I’m pretty sure there are more weekend activity ideas that you can share with us. I’m excited to know your thoughts!
