Sailing Life Day 66: Volunteering at the “Monthly” Animal Clinic for Locals here in Luperon

Started our month with eye-opening realizations but moving on.. I’m sharing some things we did last week! ❤️

Every first day of each month the Dogs & Cats of Dominican Republic in Luperon are doing free vaccination for local animals and street dogs.. we also saw dogs and puppies being dropped off by locals since they don’t or couldn’t afford to look after them anymore.. most of the volunteers were expats who lives here and fellow sailors who just arrived on their boat! There were sick dogs who visited the clinic but they couldn’t be treated there and needed a specialist Vet to handle them..❤️

My task (Jonathan followed before lunch time) was to remove ticks (pulgas & garapatas same in Spanish & Tagalog) from dogs.. hehe! Not much “patients” but I think we did a great job out there with cutie puppies.. ❤️

It was a very fulfilling morning and since we’ll be staying longer here now, we plan to join them every beginning of the month! I’m also organizing some of our things now so I can donate it to the group who sells/auction the stuff to raise money for their advocacy! ❤️

How about you guys? Do you love animals? Share photos of your pets in the comment below! ❤️
