Liveaboard Life Day 103: Being Tourists in Sto. Domingo, the capital of Dominican Republic π
Finally, have the chance to move these photos from my camera! Haha β€οΈ Last week, Jonathan had to go to the US Embassy for his USA Tourist visa interview (as I mentioned last time, he needed a B1/B2 visa to enter any USA territory by boat) so I tagged along and we invited our friend, Stacy of Sailing Roxy Dog! We rented a car for the day and of course, Jonathan was our driver! You need to be a βvery patient personβ to drive in the city! Haha π€
While waiting for Jonathan we walked to McDonald's which was 2kms away. Haha! Never been to Mcdo for ages since Luperon where we live now is a small provincial town! π On the way back to the USA Embassy to meet Jonathan again, we took the local transportation which they call βgua-guaβ! Haπ¬
In less than 2 hours, Jonathan got his visa approval and weβre off to explore!
Our first stop was the Los Tres Ojos (The 3 Eyes National Parks), beautiful spot in the middle of the city with caves, crystal-clear blue water lagoons and a lot of trees!
Then on the way to our next stop, we unexpectedly saw the Columbus Lighthouse (yes, Christopher Columbus arrived here!).. we knew we wanted to go there but we thought it will be out of our way! We only checked the outside as itβs too hot and we were lazy to walk! Haha!
Our last stop was the Zona Colonial (Colonial City) which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! We had a really delicious homemade ice cream perfect snack for the weather! β€οΈ
We wrapped up the trip to visit a massive IKEA store (they have a lot of stores here!!) to buy some kitchen stuff and a small white carpet for Captain Ahab! π
Ah, if you guys decide to visit the Caribbean.. donβt miss the Dominican Republic! So many cool things to do here and you can do luxury on a budget! β€οΈ
