Sailing Life Day 18 and 19 - Sailing from Palm Cay Marina to Shroud, Cay in Exumas! Our First Time to Anchor!
I’ll start organizing our photos per day as I’m also trying to learn how to edit our daily videos! ❤️ We finally arrived in The EXUMAS of The Bahamas which is our targeted destination to island hop but glad that our journey from Florida Keys brought us to Bimini by crossing the Gulf Stream to Nassau via the Great Bahama Bank and to the South east of New Providence Island to wait for the better weather, the unexpected stop became one of the coolest days we’ve ever had! ☀️
From Palm Cay we sailed to Shroud Cay which was only 29 NM (nautical miles), it was a great sail even our Captain Ahab enjoyed it.. just slept all throughout the journey and woke up to eat his food! We even caught a fish just as we left the island and super great to have it for our dinner (we grilled it together with our veggies! Perfect with soysauce! haha🤪)
It’s our first time to anchor and our boat don’t have a windlass installed (we bought a machine before we left Marathon and we’ll install it next week). So Jonathan was on the bow of the boat trying to set our anchor while I was “driving” the helm following his instructions where to turn! The anchor set in, I decided to sleep inside the boat while Jonathan slept on the cockpit to watch if we will drag! We didn’t! But we woke up many times because the wind gust was starting to be really strong up to 25knts at some point.. There’s no signal there so we hailed the luxury yacht beside us and asked for the weather! Haha :) The next day at 8am we left during high tide and sailed south of the Exumas chain and reach Compass Cay which I think is around 29NM (we had to go more deeper in the banks because we draw 6 ft and it’s shallow water everywhere) where we are staying for 2 nights before we move to Big Majors Cay tomorrow.. Jonathan finally slept well last night, the weather is just perfect and the water is calm! ❤️
Spent last night just watching netflix, what are you watching now? Need suggestions on what I can watch next! 🤪
Sharing another photo set of our stop here in Compass Cay so here are some photos from our crossing ⛵️🐈👫
