Sailing Life Day 40: Sailing from Calabash Bay in Northern Tip of Long Island to Clarence Town -47 NM
It took us almost 11 hours of motor-sailing from Calabash Bay to Clarence.. wind was not much, but we had our Genoa and mainsail up and they full of wind! ❤️ Helped us have a keep our 5 knots on average speed, but we had few stops because we were fishing and almost caught what looked like a Blue-fin Tuna, but we lost the fight! It was too heavy for our fishing rod.. we put a big frozen fish head as bait!! Haha 🤣
So, no fresh fish for today but glad I pre-cooked most of our meals, so we used our solar cooker, GoSun Stove to cook bacon and beef giniling for lunch! We arrived at almost 6 pm at the anchorage here, and I cooked a stir-fried chicken-rice dish for Jonathan’s dinner! Yes, we’ve been eating great food since we started sailing ❤️
We’re staying here for a night and will be refueling in town tomorrow morning, made a mistake of not buying more fuel when we were in George Town, didn’t expect we’ll be doing motoring today! Well, we’re a sailboat and can move with just the wind but have to be always safe! ⛵️🐈
We separated ways with our boat buddies- Stuart went to the North of Bahamas while Trimaran Tim left earlier than us, so he’s heading to the next island! After we get more diesel, we’ll be leaving tomorrow lunch time and heading on a supposed to be our longest sail, an estimated 34-hour journey to reach Mayaguana (accdg to our previous average speed). Jonathan doesn’t like overnight passages but I LOVE IT so much, so I’ll be taking over the helm during dark again.. wish us the best and add us to your prayer intentions! ❤️
After Mayaguana, we will be crossing to Turks & Caicos and wait for good weather to cross to the Dominican Republic! We can’t wait to speak Spanish and buy fresh food again! I loved the Bahamas trip since we’ve learned a lot but I’m more keen to go to countries like Haiti, Jamaica & Dom Rep and that’s where we’ll be going next ❤️🙏
