OFW GUIDE: How To Sign Up and Apply for Work Abroad thru the POEA Website
If you want to work abroad for a greater job opportunity and a bigger salary, then apply at the POEA. The POEA stands for Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, you can find jobs out of the Philippines through here and it is surely legit as employers are checked by the Agency. Being hired for the job is also smooth as POEA will help you in your application and hiring process.
With POEA, the government will know where you are working and if there is anything to happen to you abroad, they could assist you. There are also no recruitment fees through POEA and if you are illegally recruited, then you can be assisted to have it back. If you want to be an OFW, POEA and POEA approved agency or sites is the place to apply.
Look for a Job at POEA
1. Go to the POEA website and check out the job openings. You can also find them in the POEA offices near you.
2. See offers of recruitment agencies at work abroad websites. You can read this article on websites where you can apply for employment opportunities abroad.
3. Check the POEA Government Placement Branch.
Register at POEA
1. Go to this website.
Click “Sign-Up Here!”
2. Read the Terms of Use and click “I Accept the Terms of Use.”
3. Fill in your details in the boxes.
In case you don’t understand the reminders, let me sum it up and translate for you:
Use an email that can receive the confirmation email
Don’t make a new account by changing your personal information (name or passport number) if you haven’t received your email
Make sure what you’ve typed is true
If you don’t follow this, you might be disqualified to use eRegistraion Service
Call the numbers if you have questions.
4. Review what you have typed and click “Submit.”
A prompt will appear saying “Your account is for activation”
5. Check your email and click the confirmation link for your account to be activated.
You might want to use Google Chrome.
6. Enter a password that you will use for your account.
7. Fill in your details on the website.
Note that you can’t update them if you aren’t finished with Sections 1-6.
8. Save your profile and you can start applying.
If you have more skills, you can update your profile.
Send your Application Details
You can send your application details to the POEA Branch or the recruitment agency. But you can also send it thru the POEA Website. However, you need to register if you are applying to a POEA Government Placement Branch.
1. When you know a job you want to apply to, go to the POEA Website
In the POEA Website and click the “Apply Now” Button.
2. Put in the details of where you want to apply and send in your application.
3. Wait for instructions with regard to your application.
Get a PEOS Certificate
PEOS is a Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar. This is a requirement for getting a job abroad. You will know more about the procedures, documentary requirements and be safe from illegal recruiters. You can go to any POEA office or do it online.
1. Go to this website and choose between what module first you: Profession and Skilled Workers or Domestic Workers
2. Sign-in or Create an Account if you are not yet registered.
3. Take the modules; there are about 8
You would be watching videos and reading slides. so it’s pretty easy.
However, there are tests, so make sure you understand completely.
Proceed to the next modules until you are done.
4. Print your POES Certificate as a requirement.

Here are the basic requirements needed, however, an agency may need more as asked by their contractor:

NSO Marriage Contract (for a married woman)
Certification from National Commission of Muslim Filipinos (for Muslim Applicants)
Transcript of Records and diploma - authenticated by DepED or CHED
Training Certificates from TESDA or TESDA-accredited centers
POES Certificate
Possible Additional Requirements
2 2x2 pictures
6 2x2 pictures (if applying for a position in the Health Industry at Saudi Arabia)
Certificate of Employment (at least 2 years experience)
Passport
PRC License (if applicable) and Board Exam Rating
Postgraduate diploma (if applicable)
POEA Fees
Here are the fees that are paid by the worker and the employer.

Placement Fee (one month salary)
This is paid to the agency and pay after contract signing not before
Have an Official receipt
If you are a seafarer or a household worker, you don’t need to pay
Prohibited on these countries: USA, UK, Ireland, Norway, the Netherlands, Japan, New Zealand, selected Canadian Provinces

POEA Job Process
1. After being called by an accredited POEA Agency or a POEA GPB, submit your documents.
2. If you are qualified and are for the contract signing, read carefully the Employment Contract. Be sure to know your contact details like salary, length, overtime pay, and etc. Also what happens during emergency cases. It’s included in a module of the POES Seminar. If you agree with all statements there; sign it.
3. Have a medical exam in a DOH accredited clinic
4. Attend Pre-departure orientation at OWWA-Accredited centers and Get your Certificate of attendance.
5. Pass all to the Recruitment agency.
6. Before departure makes sure you have:

Pre-Departure Seminar Certificate
Passport and Visa
