Sailing Life Day 57: Road Trip from Luperon to Punta Cana in Dominican Republic (Distance of 491 kms. in 6 hours time)
We left Luperon Harbour exactly at 1pm for a long day of roadtrip to Punta Cana! Spent the morning cleaning the boat, preparing everything for Sabrina (our friend who will be petsitting Captain Ahab while we’re away) and after our Chiropractic treatment! 🤩
We decided to stay longer now in Luperon since we both have “back pains” esp after backpacking and carrying heavy bags for a while.. and it’s better to get regular treatments here so I can finally get my left shoulder/arms/hand pain fixed! Haha 🤣
We had to leave Captain Ahab on the boat but Sabrina (I talked about her before) will look after our baby boy! She grew up with cats on their boat so she’s used to having one and our kitty cat already knows her before! ❤️
We rented a car for $30 a day for this week’s work-holiday trip in Punta Cana (I shared a map below to show you where it is in Dominican Republic). It’s a popular town for all-inclusive honeymoon resorts and we’ll be spending 4 days reviewing one of them (taking photos and experiencing it, just like what we used to do for a living before sailing) ⛵️😍
We had to put fuel on the car and spent 3,000 pesos (60$) for a full tank.. seems like the gasoline rate here is the same in the States. And off we go! The road is just like in any provinces in other countries we’ve been.. it’s unpaved but it’s safe! After we reach the next city proper, we used the expressway route and spent 390pesos ( 8usd) in total for 4 toll gates fees.. it only took us 6 hours of journey without traffic!!
Ha, we then looked for a place to eat dinner and found a roadside restaurant! We had 2 fried chicken + rice for 150 pesos (3 usd) each meal... really good prices here and the fried chickens almost taste like Jollibee! Haha😂😂😂
Have you been to or heard about Punta Cana? If yes, share your photos and tips!🤩
P.S. Sorry I had to put the prices on everything since a lot of people are asking for these details! I’m planning to start writing our monthly cost of living for others who are thinking of getting into liveaboard sailing life ❤️⛵️
