Our unexpected last stop during our Pamir Highway roadtrip in Tajikistan with Paramount Journey

One of my tour buddies got sick because of the altitude so we had to cut our trip shorter to go down the mountains and drive to Osh, Kyrgyzstan so my supposed 9 day trip in Tajikistan became 8 days but it was all okay anyway.. maybe I’d go to Sary Mogol next time. ❤️

Our last stop is Murghab.. actually the locals here are mostly originally from Kyrgyzstan! They told us about the history when Nomadic people used to just move around this area until colonization happen and country borders started happening.

After being out of internet for days, we’re back in civilization.. Murghab is like a small city in the mountains with a bazaar made of old container/ trailers, a hospital with one doctor, restaurants and bigger guesthouses. When we arrived, our guide (Alisher), told us that we’ll have a new driver to cross to Kyrgyzstan so we had to say goodbye to him and I bought him a bottle of wine and beer (aside from tip -guys, you need to tip because these guides only make their living from basic salary and gratuities!) and he was very happy! I will miss this guide because we were laughing most of the time during the trip and he made sure we’ll have an amazing time.

In Murghab, I went to the bazaar which is half-empty.. bought some essentials and a bag made of yak. Returned to the guesthouse and met travelers who are cycling the Pamir Highway, the receptionist also gave me a book as I was sat there reading it! haha
