Liveaboard Life Day 91: Saturday Fundraising Gathering in Casa Blanca Restaurant

After returning from our trip to Jamaica, I’ve heard that fellow sailors are organizing a fundraising activity for the Dogs & Cats of Luperon.. Claude and Georgie (from 2 different sailboats) organized a Saturday night dinner for 30 people and the highlight was roasting a whole pig (just like lechon in the Philippines)! Without any questions, we bought our tickets.. it’s LECHON dude (if you’re vegetarian, please don’t judge)!! 🤗🤪

We arrived at 4pm to Casa Blanca Restaurant which is on top of the hill and overlooking our boats in Luperon Bay.. two ways you can get here: on the dinghy (the small boat) or driving for 4kms. since we have a motorbike now, we decided to drive! My first time to ride our bike as well.. 👍

We met our usual friends and so surprised that there were a lot of new faces (well, they’re here before us) and most of them our sailors or sailors who sold their boats and bought a property in Dominican Republic then retired! There were a lot of dogs as well.. some were up for adoption! Most of the boats here in Luperon have their dogs and cats on board - some were adopted here and some were brought here (it’s a really easy process to bring your pets unlike other Caribbean countries) Haha 🤣🤗

We started drinking the free wine and waited for the dinner - lechon and some salads and french fries. Even for locals they only do lechon during special occasions!

It’s been a great gathering and I also brought home some lechon to make crunchy sisig for today.. any tips or can you tell me your version of sisig? Yummmmy! 👍
