Kach Solo Travels in 2019: Experiencing a Traditional Wakhan Wedding in Tajikistan 😍
Always love being invited to special occasions whenever I travel to a new country... for this local wedding we attended is completely different from other weddings in the cities of Tajikistan or other villages in Pamir Highway.
Here the bride’s party is separated from the groom.. yesterday, we attended the celebration for the bride. The party started at 8pm and they said it’s finished by 4am but we left by 11pm as we have an early start the next day with our tour with Paramount Journey.
Basically, they’ll be dancing all night - only 2 person at a time unless it’s all kids so they can all go in the middle. All the men are seated on the right side of the entrance door while the women are on the other side... the VIP guests or the family are in front.
I was persuaded to dance with the grandfather and the sister and everyone were laughing and the family was happy.. Oh, the tradition here is that men would give you money when you’re dancing with them to say thank you.. the grandfather was giving me money and it was so funny! 😆 Thought I should do it the entire night so I could have more pocket money on my Central Asia trip... kidding! gosh, I usually only dance when I have too much alcohol but there’s no drinking there.. they also have food and tea but we already had dinner before arriving at the party. 😋
We met the lovely bride who speaks fluent english because she’s a teacher and had photos with her before we left! We gave her a gift, she initially refused but accepted it and just really happy. She’s marrying the love of her life (and not fixed marriage) so you can see how happy she is. One conclusion after this experience, Tajikistan women from the Pamir are really beautiful!! 😍😍
