We all reach crossroads where we have to decide which direction our life is headed. For some it’s easy; they have clear goals and objectives and they know how to achieve them. I thought I was one of them, until a sudden realization changed my life forever.
Against all advice, I quit my job and started travelling around the world. I’ve been traveling full time since 2013 and I’ve realized the key to a happy life is much simpler than most people ever know.
Tip 1: Don’t be afraid to ask.
It may seem simple, but if you don’t ask, then how can you expect to get what you want? So many of us float, bounce and fall through life with no idea of what we actually want. Once you start asking and realizing what that is, then your life automatically starts rearranging to give it to you. People who are negative or obstructive to your desires will just drift away and the things you need will start appearing to you. You don’t have to plan the rest of your life, just start with something small, something now. Ask for it and really mean it. You’ll be surprised how the world will deliver things when you ask.
Tip 2: Be patient and believe.
Believe in the timing of your life. You know those moments we all have in life when something just happens at exactly the right time? We decide to buy something on impulse and it turns out to be on sale, or we drive into the busiest car park in the city and there’s one empty space waiting just for us. These are not simply random events; they are the positive results of you asking for what you want in your mind. Pay attention to these thoughts, say thank you and be grateful when the positive results happen. Be patient and believe that what you want will be there, waiting for you!
Tip 3: Believe in yourself. Be confident.
As you go through life with your new “ask and believe attitude” and things start to turn around and go your way, focus on how that makes you feel—happy, excited, grateful or how about confident? Of course you feel more confident, you’ve just discovered that you have complete control over your life and you’re no longer at the mercy of random events and other peoples’ dreams. As soon as you start to realize that what you want will come to you, your life will begin to transform in ways you never imagined were possible.
Tip 4: Be humble.
Sometimes we get wrapped up in our material worlds: our house, cars, clothes, jewelry and spa treatments. It’s important however, to remember that we are all human beings trying to make a safe, comfortable and happy life for ourselves in whatever way we can. You don’t have to go out into the streets to feed the homeless, but be aware of everyone around you and accept everyone as equals. With humility comes gratitude, with gratitude comes love and humanity. No amount of wealth, success or status can change the fact that we are all one and the same.
Tip 5: Live your life now!
The future does not yet exist and can be created how you want it. The past only exists in your memories. The only thing that is real, that you can touch, taste, smell, see and hear, is right now. It’s important to feel positively about our future. We must appreciate what we have now, or what’s the point? Why wish for something if when it arrives you’re busy wishing for something else? If we feel happy, grateful and positive in the now, the rest will take care of itself.
Tip 6: Learn Skills.
Constructive skills and activities help to detach us from our busy lives. It brings out our creative side and acts as an outlet for unreleased thoughts and emotions. Evidence shows that continuing to learn throughout our lives is incredibly beneficial to our mental well-being; it helps us to feel good about ourselves and boosts our self-esteem.
Tip 7: Dream Positive. Be Positive. Live Positive.
Everything I’ve talked about here is part of something called The “Law of Attraction.” It’s all about building a life of positivity through which you will continue to attract more positivity as a result. Not only can you attract positivity into your life, but you can attract anything you want, simply by asking for it. It’s a bold theory, almost unbelievable. Yet, when you pay attention to the world around you and how your thoughts and attitude shape your world, it becomes clear that we have the power to actively create our entire world. You just have to be clear about what you want. Ask for it every day, believe that you will have it and most importantly, always be positive and grateful for what you already have.
