Starting Jonathan’s Birthday week 🙏 Our friends, Jenny and Steve of Archipelago Sail have friends visiting since yesterday, so they planned a day sail today.. and we invited ourselves to join the trip! Hahaha! 😂
Here in the Dominican Republic, you’d need a “despacho” or exit permit to leave any harbor go sailing so we couldn’t sail with a lot of boats or on our boat because of the hassle..So our friend, Chuck, who has a ranch and brand new Leopard 40 invited all of us on his yacht for a sail!⛵️
An incredible day of upwind and downwind sailing then spent swimming all afternoon then we shared a home-cooked fresh lunch I ordered from a local family to surprise everyone on the boat! 😍
On our way back.. we caught a massive fish which we eventually identified as wahoo!! 🐟🐟 Chuck reeled in the fish, Steve used the gaff to get it out of the water then Jonathan ended the life of the fish.we said sorry and thanked the fish for our dinner! Oops 🤣 We arrived at the Luperon harbor around 55 pm on our way to the marina, here were 1tenother sailing friends waiting for us to help us dock (park) Chuck’s boat!
We immediately went to our boat to say hello to Ahab & Zissou and off we went to land again to prepare our FISH party dinner with fellow sailors!! 😂😂
Of course, growing up with my cool Filipina Mama has an advantage at this point. I’ve learned how to clean a fish, so I was tasked to do that last night with the help of other sailing friends like Tom of S/V Benediction who chopped/ filleted it for the grill and sashimi. Also to Benoit & Veronica of S/V Andromeda who gave us all the knives to use, the hose for cleaning and the flashlight since it was dark! Our friends Jonathan of S/V Legacy and Larry of S/V Cabernet were there to give us light while cleaning the fish on the dock! ⛵️⛵️ Teamwork indeed.. we’re now enjoying the party at the Putula's Bar & BBQ on the Water!
I love this sailing community!! Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are 🙏😍⛵️
More photos tomorrow.. can’t wait to share videos 🙏⛵️
