Kach Solo Travels in 2019: Overnight in Mashhad ❤️
From Ashgabat, my tour guide in Turkmenistan dropped me to the Bajigiran border to Iran which is almost an hour drive from the capital. The two immigration offices were just a quick walk away from each other so it was an easy process.
I pre-arranged my visa for Iran since visa on arrival can only be done at the airport and not by land-border crossing.. the immigration officers in Iran are really friendly and nice! They even called my taxi driver outside the office to help me with my luggage which is not heavy at all! From here, I had to start wearing a headscarf because every women is required by law here to cover their hair.
It took 3 hours of driving until I reached the city of Mashhad which is considered as the Holiest City in Iran because the shrine of Imam Reza is located which is very important for Shia Muslim. 🙏🏽
I arrived by lunch time and my tour sponsor booked me in Homa Hotel which is one of the most popular luxury chain hotel in Iran where I stayed for the night.
Few hours later, I met Pouyan who is the one who invited me on this trip and he showed me around the Mashhad and also to Jaghargh, a village near the city where there’s a lot of street food and restaurants where I was able to try their typical local food called DIZI.. I was also playing with the cute kittens at the restaurant! haha 🤣
By midnight, we drove to Imam Reza shrine and hoping there were less people but the place was so full.. they said miracles do happen here and I definitely felt the positive energy! So happy I made it since my mom has been asking me to go and visit that place! ⭐️
So here are some photos from my first stop in Iran.. next stops: Shiraz, Yazd, Isfahan, Kashan, Qom and Tehran! 😍
