Kach Solo Travels in 2019: Made it to DARVAZA!

The gas crater and also called “the gateway to hell” 🤭 It’s been on fire non-stop since 1971 after a mistake by geologists! 🤭

It’s in the middle of Karakum desert and you need a tour company to bring you there! We left Ashgabat at 4pm and arrived there at 7pm which is just the perfect time to see it before the sunset.. the highlight is seeing it at night time!

We slept in a camp nearby but it was really too hot for me inside the yurt (43 degrees celsius) so I slept in the car with all the windows open.. by 7am, we left and my guide showed me another two craters - one empty with a small fire and another one filled with natural water!

We then visited a local village and had lunch there and they let me try camel milk (I had tried it before and I still don’t like it. Oops!) Ah, it’s great experience but I think it will be so much better if I’m here not in July which is the hottest month in Central Asia! I’ve learned my lesson and swear to do more weather research when planning to visit a new country! Haha 😂
