SOLD!!! Our Sailboat is For Sale (1971 Finnrose 37) - Ready to Sail Away

It’s time to sell our beautiful Finnrose 37 sailboat, now fully equipped and prepared for live aboard cruising and strategically located right at the beginning of the Caribbean Islands! From here in Salinas, Puerto Rico it is literally a small jump away from St Thomas, in the US Virgin Islands. En route are the paradise islands of Vieques and Culebra to explore on the way! From St Thomas you have the whole Caribbean Island chain right in front of you!

Save yourself the Eastward battle against the wind from the US by jumping on a boat that is already here, is actually ready to go, actively lived on and currently cruised. (Not sitting in a boat yard or alongside a dock for a year or more…)

We decided to just sell her for $39,000 USD and hoping for a quick sale.. we spent way more money and energy on making her a beautiful live-aboard boat that brought us to 5 countries. Aside from the good condition of the boat, you’ll also be able to use all of our spare parts, equipment, tools, home appliances & “toys” that comes with the boat.. You only need to bring your clothes to continue the adventure!

(NOTE - We have just arrived in Salinas, Puerto Rico with Empress on January 30th 2019. Empress WAS NOT in Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria! We’ve own her since May 2017 and already sailed from Florida Keys, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic and now Puerto Rico.)

P.S. If you can’t buy her and can refer her to potential buyers, be happy to give 5% referral fee for a completed sale!

We purchased Empress in Marathon, Florida Keys in May of 2017. At this time we hauled her out for the following work:

  • Full bottom job - Sand and bottom paint in two coats of Trinidad hard black. 3 coats at waterline.

  • Replacement of all through hulls and seacocks below the waterline with Groco bronze pieces.

  • Refit of the interior.

  • Thorough inspection of all running parts below the waterline.

Since then we have lived on board and cruised Empress from Florida, through the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, Dominican Republic and arrived in Puerto Rico in January, 2019. We have continuously maintained, improved and upgraded all aspects of the boat over the past two years as we have travelled.

Our life is now taking a new direction; back towards Europe where we plan to settle down this year while traveling more and doing what we used to do. So it’s time for someone else to take over stewardship of Empress and get even more enjoyment out of her than we have!

Our sailboat is a USA-flag boat and registered in Florida.

This is a ‘No Glue’ Installation, meaning that all of the linings are removable and can be taken outside to be washed with a hose, rubbing brush and detergent. You also never have to worry about the usual issues of linings peeling away and falling off.

Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl is an amazing material and the foam rubber backing actually insulates the interior of the boat from the heat outside.

This material retails at about $270 / Yard! - https://www.sailrite.com/search?keywords=infinity

  • 1 X Caframo 12 volt fan installed in V berth.

  • We decided to paint the interior of the boat. Boats of this decade were very dark inside and the repaint transformed it completely. This is a very good paint job; we used two coats of Killz primer, then two coats of a white water-based, followed by two coats of Behr Marquee Satin Enamel colour (light sanding between coats). This paint job will last the life of the boat, however we have quart tins of each colour for touch ups!
