Kach Solo Travels Day 12 to 16: 5 Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not enough!
If only I have more time this trip, I’d stay for weeks.. we went to Kravice Waterfalls, Blagaj, Konjic, and Sarajevo where we based ourselves for 4 nights. You can easily travel here on a budget if you’re a backpacker.
During our last day, we decided to spend the time in Sarajevo! I know there a lot of attractions to visit and experience but we spent most of our time at the old town as it’s really interesting.. a lot to read and to see! (We rented a car with EasyRentCars online since it gives a $30 discount voucher)
Though I rarely enjoy traveling to the capitals, Sarajevo for me is different! It feels more like a provincial town (well, we were staying in the Old Town area) with friendly locals, cheap and really delicious food! I think I only ate cevapcici (meat dishes) with bread entire time we were there!
That’s when we found out that the bread that we really liked to eat is made at the bakery of the same owners of Hotel Aziza Sarajevo (Check the Latest Room Rates Here). Haris, the grandson who is also the General Manager of the hotel brought us to the bakery where we learned how their family business grew and how the yummy pieces of bread we liked were made the old ways! Then he brought us to the viewpoint to see Saravejo from above and dropped us in the old town to go to the historical museum about the Siege of Sarajevo.
I just love this city.. beautiful mosques & architecture, narrow cobblestone streets and cemeteries are everywhere but they don’t look creepy. You’ll also see bullet holes on buildings which were caused by the Siege of Sarajevo in the 90s! Now time to read more about the past.. can't believe how recent it happened!
If you want to travel back in time, read and learn about wars/history while drinking cheap beers and eating good quality meat then you’ll love this place!! 🙏🤗
